ABOUT
Abby West (they/she) is a freelancer and artist who currently resides in Chicago, IL.
She began working in theatre at the age of nine as an actor. After working as a performer for over seven years, she switched from performance to tech and design. She moved to Chicago in 2019 to attend The Theatre School at DePaul University, where she received a BFA in Scene Design.
While formally trained as a Scenic Designer, Abby also has a passion for scenic art and painting. As a scenic artist, she has worked on dozens of projects across the country, at institutions such as Steppenwolf Theatre and the Contemporary American Theatre Festival. In 2022, she spent a few months studying scenic art in London at the Royal Central School for Speech and Drama.
In addition to her theatrical work, Abby has enjoyed working in the film/commercial industry. She has worked on several short films and commercials, primarily as a Set Dresser or Art Director.
When not working, Abby can be found skateboarding, playing video games, thrifting, pr traveling to enjoy some live music.
